2019 Florida Hurricane Season Public Advisory Bulletin: Tropical Storm Dorian may bring Tropical-Storm-Force-Winds to Central Florida as early as this Saturday.

On August 28th, 2019 the Nation Weather Service's (NWS) National Hurricane Center issued their 11AM update on Tropical Storm Dorian; the fourth named storm of the 2019 Florida hurricane season.

This Public Advisory update is as follows:

Dorian is very near St. Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands

Dorian is forecast to become a hurricane later today

Dorian is located near latitude 17.5 North, longitude 64.5 West

Dorian is moving toward the northwest near 13 miles per hour

Dorian's maximum sustained winds have increased to near 70 miles per hour

The Key Messages for Tropical Storm Dorian:

Hurricane conditions expected in the U.S. and British Virgin Islands today

Tropical storm conditions expected in Puerto Rico today; possible hurricane conditions

Heavy rainfall over Puerto Rico and the U.S. and British Virgin Islands producing flash flooding over the next couple of days

Heavy rains expected over the Bahamas, Florida, and elsewhere in the southeastern United States later this week and early next week

Increasing risk of dangerous storm surge and hurricane-force winds in the Bahamas and along the east coast of Florida.

Avoid the chaos of last minute preparations:

Determine your vulnerability to hurricane storm surge, inland flooding, and strong winds

Develop an evacuation plan and ensure your disaster supply kit is ready

Acquire enough supplies to last several days

Document and share your evacuation plan with friends and family

Communicate with your neighbors about their plans as well

Call Tint Heaven now to schedule your no cost Comfort Survey.

Above-Normal 2019 Florida Hurricane Season Update

Above-Normal 2019 Florida Hurricane Season Update
Jason Arndt
Mon, 08/26/2019 - 4:26 pm

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center increases chance for "above-normal" in 2019 Florida hurricane season update.

On August 8th, 2019 forecasters for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued a 2019 Florida hurricane season update saying "conditions are now more favorable for above-normal hurricane activity" during the 2019 Florida hurricane season.

CPC's updated forecasts for the 2019 Florida hurricane season are as follows:

A thirty-five percent [35%] chance of a near-normal season

A forty-five percent [45%] chance of an above-normal season

A twenty percent [20%] chance of a below-normal season

Ten to seventeen [10-17] named storms (winds of thirty-nine [39] mph or greater)

Five to nine [5-9] hurricanes (winds of seventy-four [74] mph or greater)

Two to four [2-4] major hurricanes (winds of one-hundred-eleven [111] mph or greater)

(For reference, an average hurricane season produces twelve [12] named storms, six [6] hurricanes, and three [3] major hurricanes.)

<img alt="Image removed." data-entity-type="file" data-entity-uuid="5b95bc05-a8cc-4142-827d-66a06b748c56" src="https://www.tintheaven.com/files/inline-images/15085.png" title="This image has been removed.
A NOAA graphic showing updated 2019 Florida hurricane season probability and numbers of named storms.

NOAA notes this increase in likelihood of an above-normal season is due to three factors:

The current Pacific Ocean El Nino has ended returning conditions to neutral

Conditions associated with the ongoing high-activity Atlantic hurricane era (1995-present) are more conducive

Landfall predictions are only accurate within about a week of a storm potentially reaching a coastline

Two named storms have already formed so far this year, and we are just now entering the peak months of the 2019 Florida hurricane season. Historically, 95% of all hurricanes and major hurricanes occur between August and October.

Get ready now and share the message:

Determine your vulnerability to hurricane storm surge, inland flooding, and strong winds

Develop an evacuation plan and ensure your disaster supply kit is ready

Acquire enough supplies to last several days

Document and share your evacuation plan with friends and family

Communicate with your neighbors about their plans as well

Near-Normal 2019 Florida Hurricane Season Outlook

Near-Normal 2019 Florida Hurricane Season Outlook
Jason Arndt
Mon, 08/26/2019 - 10:51 am

NOAA's Climate Prediction Center issues "near-normal" prediction for 2019 Florida hurricane season.

On May 23rd, 2019 the Climate Prediction Center (CPC) for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) released their predictions for the 2019 Florida hurricane season.

CPC forecasts the 2019 Florida hurricane season as follows:

A forty percent [40%] chance of a near-normal season

A thirty percent [30%] chance of an above-normal season

A thirty-percent [30%] chance of a below-normal season

Nine to fifteen [9-15] named storms (winds of thirty-nine [39] mph or greater)

Four to eight [4-8] hurricanes (winds of seventy-four [74] mph or greater)

Two to four [2-4] major hurricanes (winds of one-hundred-eleven [111] mph or greater)

(For reference, an average hurricane season produces twelve [12] named storms, six [6] hurricanes, and three [3] major hurricanes.)

A NOAA graphic showing 2019 Florida hurricane season probability and numbers of named storms.

NOAA also notes this outlook is based on three competing climate factors:

The ongoing El Nino is expected to persist and suppress hurricane season intensity

Warmer-than-average sea-surface temperatures in the tropical Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea is expected to increase hurricane season intensity

Enhanced west African monsoon is expected to increase hurricane season intensity

Last year, Hurricane Michael made landfall in the Florida pan-handle as a quick-developing Category Five [5] storm that left a wake of destruction in its path. This storm, in addition to Hurricane Florence, resulted in the loss of 100 lives and close to fifty-billion-dollars [$50,000,000,000] in damage.

A NOAA graphic showing 2019 Florida hurricane season tropical cyclone names selected by the World Meteorological Organization.

Now is the time to get prepared:

Determine your vulnerability to hurricane storm surge, inland flooding, and strong winds

Develop an evacuation plan and ensure your disaster supply kit is ready

Acquire enough supplies to last several days

Document and share your evacuation plan with friends and family

Communicate with your neighbors about their plans as well

Call Tint Heaven now to schedule your no cost Comfort Survey.
